The workshop was held on July 14 at the 32nd annual conference of the NHCAFAE at the Hyatt Hotel in La Jolla.

The workshop was organized to perfection by Elisa Castaneda. Her team of District 5 members included Angel Salazar as the Keynote Speaker and the General Evaluator, Joe Castaneda as the Speech Evaluator, Elisa as the Speaker, Angie Herrera as the Table Topics Master, Rhonda Walthall as the Ah Counter, and Ferdonya Henderson as the Timer.

Assisting District 5 members were District One members Evelyn Woolridge as the Toastmaster and Olfelia Medina as the Grammarian. Both Evelyn and Olfelia are FAA employees and were very welcoming and gracious to the District 5 members. Approximately 30 FAA employees attended the workshop.

Some Club Testimonials

“There are people in our community who have been affected by the changes in our economy, resulting in a loss of confidence; Toastmasters is a great place to keep your edge, while improving speaking and leadership skills,” said Suzanne Halpin, Club President“Our club is known for having a warm and friendly atmosphere that is conducive to personal growth.”

When asked about her fourteen-year involvement with the club, Dorothy Mann states:

“Toastmasters has helped me tremendously with learning to be more diplomatic in my personal life, and helped me gain self confidence when speaking in front of a group.  It is one of the most enjoyable things I have ever done.  I am always amazed at how clever and innovative some speakers are.  I always feel I get so much more than I am able to give.  I also wonder how it might have made a difference in my life, had I started early in my career.”
