Benevolence means performing acts of kindness, and our vision is to let all Toastmasters in District 5 know they are part of a community that cares about them. The mission of the District 5 Benevolence Committee is to help our fellow Toastmasters in need.
Our Goals
- To send cards to District 5 Toastmasters and their families in the event of a death or serious illness in their immediate family.
- To arrange for additional assistance, as needed. This may include:
- arranging for fellow Toastmasters to provide meals
- arranging transportation to doctor appointments
- making short visits
- To provide assistance during emergencies, such as the San Diego County wildfires in 2007.
What to Do
When you hear of a fellow Toastmaster in need, please contact our committee chair, Rose Waring, and provide an address and phone number for the member or member’s family, as well as the name of the member’s home club. Rose will notify the committee who will provide what the member needs.
Just as we support our fellow members to achieve their goals, we also support them in their time of need.
