Our Mission

The Mission of the District is to enhance the performance and extend the network of Clubs, thereby offering greater numbers of people the opportunity to benefit from the Toastmasters educational program, by:

• Focusing on the critical success factors as specified by the District educational and membership goals.
• Ensuring that each Club effectively fulfills its responsibilities to its individual members.
• Providing effective training and leadership development opportunities for Club and District Officers.

Public Relations PDF Print E-mail

Public Relations involves establishing and maintaining lines of communication between the district and its members, as well as between the district and the public.  A successful public relations program is a team effort. It takes place not only at the district level, but at the division, area, and club levels as well. Corporate recognition visits, speech contests, and Speechcraft programs are just some of the Toastmasters events that warrant media exposure. Good public relations is anything that produces a positive response, and causes a person to visit a club meeting or go to the Toastmasters Web site.

The Role of the Public Relations Officer (PRO)

While a fair amount of the duties of the PRO include promoting the greater good of Toastmasters (contests, new club meetings, training sessions), it is also important to promote the small and special elements (testimonials, transitional skills, "wow" moments) that members frequently cite as reasons why they stay in Toastmasters.

Indeed, most Toastmasters members state that they joined the organization so they could present better (new job title at work) or acquire new skills (re-entry into workforce). Whatever the reason, the Public Relations Committee is here to help all members in the district succeed.

Public Relations Committee

The committee chairs within the department are here to help you re-dedicate yourself to your successful endeavors:

  • Look to the Directory Chair for keep your vital information up to date;
  • The Guest Speaker Chair to invigorate your tired meetings;
  • The Webmaster to keep you informed of all things Toastmasters;
  • And the Speakers Bureau to keep a steady stream of competent and confident speakers ready to visit other organizations.

District Website

The 2009/2010 Webmaster, Debbie Roes, partnered with our previous Public Relations Officer, Sandra Price, to make this website more interactive. In addition to totally revamping the District website, Debbie and Sandra added a calendar that any registered user can add events to, an illustrative photo page, and downloadable forms to make your experience as a Toastmaster more rewarding.

Toastmaster Logos

The Toastmasters “globe” logo is recognized worldwide. But over the years, the organization has also used a graphic image of the Toastmasters name as an alternative or in addition to using the official logo. This text emblem can, at times, be a better representative of Toastmasters International, depending on the project at hand. Both the logo and the alternative text emblem are acceptable to use on official Toastmasters materials. You’re encouraged to use the text emblem as it best suits your needs: in addition to the logo or instead of the logo. But you should know the rules for using the logo and the text emblem.
